The Bible advises Coptic Christians to pursue purity and live our lives as an example for others.
"Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." 1 Corinthians 6:18-20
“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12
The modern dating culture does not work in harmony with these values.
We must turn to God first. Loving the Lord above all else allows us to better understand how to love ourselves, and only then teach us how to appropriately love others.
"I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh." Galatians 5:16
Loving God first is placing the Lord at the center of our lives, and making every decision, including who to date and potentially marry, with him.
